CACREP only limits accessibility to the public

I am opposed to your proposed policy to limit counselor licensure in Virginia only to those who have had an education accredited through the CACREP. If this occurs, Virginia will severely limit the pool of potential providers of mental health to its citizens. I for one, am a Maryland resident licensed and practicing in my state for over 20 years. I have been considering re-locating to Virginia where my son and his family reside, so I can be more involved in my grandchildren's lives. Since I would want to continue to practice as a licensed counselor, I decision to relocate would be negatively effected.

I urge you to reconsider this policy of exclusion. Many of your citizens and future citizens would be adversely effected by limiting the licensing of Licensed Professional Counselors to a narrow group of potential providers of mental health services.

Thank you for taking my concerns into account.
