Using CACREP to accredit counseling programs in Virginia is appropriate because it moves the field towards increased professionalism by providing unity in accreditation. Sadly, this has become a debate focused completely on whether or not someone has already graduated from a CACREP program, or not. Those who attended a CACREP approved course of study are for it, and those who did not, don't. It's a shame that the discussion could not be based more on facts, data, and logic.
