As a new mom with a child in daycare, but also as a physician, mandating daycares to supply and administer EpiPens is a huge concern. When children are having an allergic reaction, we should depend on emergency services, and even when a child gets an EpiPen they should still seek emergency aftercare. If the state would like daycare professionals to be trained, then they should consider offering the training for free. Also, EpiPens are costly, and without insurance coverage, this would directly affect daycare costs. As with topical or other specialized medications, parents should have the authority to provide them for their child, IF NEEDED.
