Women need access to the best health care

Women deserve the very best healthcare especially at those times when they are most vulnerable. The abortion restrictions placed by last year's law help to ensure that any facility which provides abortion, which is a surgery, meet the same standards which are in place at other out-patient surgery centers. Women deserve no less than the same surgical standards that everyone else enjoys. I had the chance a few weeks ago to see pictures of women being removed from an abortion facility in another state that did not have such a restriction in place. The EMTs could not get the gurneys into the facility and one of the women had to come out in a wheelchair, the other carried out under her arms and legs. This is absolutely unacceptable. A surgery gone wrong is bad enough, but then to not even be able to get to a real hospital without such indiginity is not something the women of VA should ever have to suffer, not even one.

I write this as a twenty-seven year old, mother of two. Women deserve the best care. Please ensure that these restrictions stay in place so that they can get it.
