Where is equal protection and equal treatment under the law? Make all outpatient clinics performing invasive and surgical procedures subject to the same regulations as clinics that perform abortions. Let's have the same expensive and restrictive conditions placed on clinics that perform dental surgery, laser eye surgery, colonoscopies and cosmetic surgery. Do not capriciously impose requirements on women's health care and abortion clinics that are not consistent with regulations applying to other clinics. Do not allow medical care to become a political and arbitrary cudgel that imposes one group's beliefs on everyone else and that eliminates women's sovereignty over their own bodies. Do not allow the state to coerce women, and women alone, to endure a particular medical condition against their will by introducing regulations designed to drive up the cost and availability of one particular kind of medical service.
