These facility regulations have nothing to do with the safety of women who are seeking abortion, and everything to do with a political agenda and with "solving" a problem that does not exist. How many women have suffered complications from a first trimester procedure in the facilities that currently exist?

I am old enough to remember when women underwent procedures offered by charlatans and underground abortion providers, and yes, even the old Dr. Coat Hanger. These regulations will close many of the facilities that currently serve women and send women back to the dark alleys that existed when I was young. Back to the future, indeed!

It is my understanding that current facilities are often grandfathered and that new facilities could be those required to meet the new proposed guidelines. That would seem to be a reasonable and appropriate compromise.

These regulations are another part of the assault on women's health and the rights of women to determine in consultation with their physicians what is right for them..
