The "Clinic Health Standards" regulations are a transparent attempt to reduce or eliminate abortions by making the costs of such proceedures prohibitive. The regulations infringe on every woman's rights (Roe v Wade) to a safe, legal abortion by imposing excessively strict requirements on the physical and staffing requirements of abortion clinics, driving the costs up so far as to make them impractical both for the providers and for the potential patients. There are NO COMPELLING REASONS to impose this level of standards on facilities that have been without delivering these services for years without adverse case histories.
