withdrawal from the Regional Greenhouse gas initiative

We object to the Governor's proposal to withdrawal from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. A few months ago we watched a dear friend suffocate to death from lung cancer due to smoking. She was gasping and full of fear. Cigarette smoke is a toxic gas, a well known toxin. More toxic gases, are starting to appear from forest fires. and  effecting the breathing of the most vulnerable, those with chronic pulmonary diseases, from asthmatic child to the older person with COPD. We are in our eighties, we have never seen such fires which scientists relate to elevated CO2 in the atmosphere. Those fires aggravate the problem with more CO2. Please listen to the scientists. They know more than you and we do. This is not a political issue it is a breathing issue. Please do not withdrawal from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. To do so would not be wise but also would not sit well with our children who are asked to believe in the toxic effects of Greenhouse Gases in the classroom. Listen to the kids. Listen to those with chronic pulmonary diseases. We in Virginia already carry the stigma of the lethal effects of tobacco. Lets not add to that stigma by being a state that ignores the lethal effects of high CO2 in our atmosphere. Sincerely, Captain Michael (USN Medical Corps ret) and Mrs. Deborah Bohan.
