Stick with RGGI--It's the right thing to do

My name is Barbara Fay, a long-time resident of Virginia since the early 1960's.  I am deeply concerned about the causes and effects of climate change, especially for my five children, their spouses, and 13 grandchildren (7 of whom have asthma) who also live in Virginia and DC.

My Christian faith tells me that we all must be good stewards of this earthly home in which we have been entrusted.  I am a parishioner of Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in Arlington. A few years ago our parish decided to switch to solar energy rather than enlarge our church.  It is my belief that we all must do our part in protecting our planet and rejoiced when VA decided to join our neighboring states by participating in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).  This program has been successful in cutting planet-warming pollution from power plants in half since it began.  In the past 3 years since VA joined in the regional initiative, RGGI has generated $590 million to invest in energy efficient low-income housing for Virginians and flood preparedness.

Why, in heavens name, would Gov. Youngkin urge the Virginia Air Pollution Control Board to repeal our participation in Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative?  RGGI works for Virginia!!!

I strongly request that you continue to maintain Virginia participation in RGGI.

Respectfully,

Barbara Fay
