Save our Participation in the RGGI Program--It is a great asset to Virginians

In 2020, Virginia's enrollment in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative was passed into law.   It has been a valuable program, taking funds generated by requiring energy polluters to purchase carbon offsets, and applying those funds 1. to help poor people lower their heating and air conditioning bills and 2. to build flood resilience infrastructure in our coastal and riverine communities. This program is a great success story.  It is a very positive and common sense program for combatting the effects of climate change.  IT MAKES NO SENSE FOR VIRGINIA TO WITHDRAW FROM THIS PROGRAM!

As a naturalist and educator, a long-time Virginia citizen and tax payer, and a person of faith,  I urge you to take the measures that are needed to preserve our participation in the RGGI program.

Thank you,

Sarah Glassco
