Virginia should stay in RGGI!

Alexandria, VA, has been my home for the past two decades. I am writing to express my disapproval at the attempt to remove Virginia from the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI).

As someone who grew up and spent much of my childhood and young adult life with yearly family visits to Old Town Alexandria, it breaks my heart at the thought that a lot of the businesses will close down or go out of business due to the increases in harsh flooding in the area. Virginians, homeowners and business owners alike, deserve to have access to funding that could help them with flood mitigation and weatherization issues. This is why we need to stay in RGGI!

Ever since volunteering with the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN), I've heard many people's stories, especially in the poorer areas of Alexandria, about the flooding that they experience in their local neighborhoods and parks. This is a critical issue that RGGI would help aid in. Please do not pull Virginia from RGGI. It protects our businesses, our homes, and our families.

From a concerned citizen of Alexandria,

AJL
