Virginia needs RGGI

Governor Youngkin's intended withdrawal from RGGI would violate 2020 legislation.

Virginia must continue to participate in this important climate change initiative, for multiple reasons:

  1. It reduces carbon emissions as set forth in the VA Clean Economy Act.
  2. It improves public health.
  3. It creates jobs.
  4. It reduces energy costs for low-income families.
  5. It reduces costs to the state (ex: funding flood damage prevention).

Instead of attacking this program that has proven positive outcomes and is meeting the real needs of ordinary Virginians, the administration must stop big fossil fuel energy companies from monopolizing utility rates and incentivize them to invest in renewable energy.
