We need to remain in RGGI!

Greetings,

I'm writing to recommend that Governor Youngkin endorse Virginia's participation in the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative. Doing so has never been more important than now, when effects of climate change are increasingly visible every day. RGGI is effective in reducing emissions, achieving Virginia's energy goals, and improving public health. It is reducing energy bills for those of us with lower incomes, and creates jobs for roofers, electricians, and HVAC installers. Not only is RGGI beneficial, it's lawfully imperative since the 2020 law requires that Virginia participate.

Instead of exiting RGGI, please consider fixing the utility code. Monopoly utilities have been able to write the code in their favor while investing in outdated energy technologies. If your administration really cares about customer costs, please support monopoly utility rate reforms instead of removing Virginia from RGGI.

Thanks for reading and have a blessed day!

Shannon Lenahan
