RGGI is addressing urgent home repair and safety needs of families across our state. Stay in RGGI

In addition to climate benefits and emissions reductions, RGGI is funding the Weatherization Deferral and Repair (WDR) program. Funds are being used by the non-profit agencies who deliver Weatherization Assistance Program services in order to address jobs that have been deferred so these homes can now be weatherized. So by being able to weatherize these homes not only will more individuals and families in need receive services, but greenhouse gases will be reduced, energy bills lowered, and homes will be healthier and safer.

I have spoken with clients who have received the work from the funds. It has allowed a woman in Rockingham County to stay in her home of 40 years, a veteran in northern Virginia to breath easier and save money on his electric bill in his mobile home. There are hundreds more residents who have received housing repair and home improvements or are scheduled to from this funding.

Do Not pull Virginia out of RGGI until you have spoken with some of these residents. The program has just begun. Eliminating a well-funded and successful program that is helping low-income families in our communities is a mistake and negates the opportunity to meet important needs and solve energy and environmental problems in the Commonwealth. Thank you.
