Adoption should be about the needs and best interests of children, not rights of adults

This is an outrageous attack on religious organizations, which have very good reasons for denying placement to a same sex couple. Adoption placements should always be about the best possible placement and best interests of the child, not the needs or wishes of the prospective parents.  There is no "right" to adopt. Adoption agencies need the freedom to make the best possible placement.

I used to work at a crisis pregnancy clinic. My clients were always terrified at what might become of their child in an adoption situation; for that reason they  chose abortion most of the time.  I have heard of placements made against the wishes of the biological parents to a homosexual parent. Decades of social science research confirms that children are better off a mom and a dad. Each sex brings unique strengths and characteristics to the parenting process. Religious organizations will have to close their doors, as they have in places like Mass and DC, and go out of the adoption business, to comply with the new regs. This is a horrifying encroachment of the state upon the church, such as the Bill of Rights was designed to prevent.

There are almost NO STUDIES of male male parenting to justify this regulation. The self described longest and largest running study of female female parenting only had 78 children and was self reported by the Mother. All the children were under 17.  In 2008, a CDC study found that 1 in 5 males that have sex with men are infected with HIV.  See the CDC fact sheet  "HIV among gay men, bisexual men, and other men who have sex with men (MSM)"  Sept. 2010.  Nearly half were unaware of their infection.  According to Ronald Stall, "Substance abuse is pervasive among gay men and is so intricately intertwined with epidemics of depression, partner abuse, and childhood sexual abuse that adequately addressing on issue requires attention to the others as well." Ronald Stall, PH. D. chief of prevention research for the division of HIV/AIDS prevention at the CDC, Atlanta, Study of 3000 gay men, 2005. . A compelling book, Out From Under by Dawn Stefanowicz exposes the pitfalls of homosexual parenting, and has many supporters among the medical and psychological community. Her website www.dawnstefanowicz.com has even more information. Other studies have linked homosexuality and child abuse.  (Simply google homosexuality and pedophilia). A San Francisco study(Bell and Weinberg, 1978)  reported that 25% of white homosexual males in their sample admitted to having had sex with youths ages 13-15 when they were 21 or older. (criminal in CA). While not every homosexual is an abuser, the Catholic Church discovered much too late its error in closing its eyes to openly homosexual priests. T he fallout has been devastating across the entire world. Even committed homosexual relationships often include multiple sexual partners. A study of American and Canadian homosexuals (Jay and Young) 1979, found that 59% of males had taken part in orgies or group sex(pg. 587) 38% had taken part in sadomasochism. Among lesbians, 38% had participated at least once in a "threesome."

An excellent summary of this and other research may be found in Homosexual Marriage: A social Science View by Dr. Laura Haynes. (Oct. 2008).
