I oppose the proposition, which would be detrimental to far too many eligible children needing adoption. The proposition is unconstitutional and its influence will be counterproductive to the adoption system. Too many religious and faith-based groups will be turned away from helping children get adopted because of the new standards proposed. The proposition would revoke many faith-based adoption agencies' policies on potential parents' qualifications; it would prevent and circumvent the actions of many faith-based adoption agencies who would not be able to provide adoption services to those who need their help.
