This act alleges it does not provide for the censoring of books, but the goal of this act is absolutely censorship. It removes access to diverse perspectives and real human experiences for all in the Virginia public education system. This will target LGBT+ children and children of color in negatives ways and make Virginia all the worse for it. By leaving a broad definition, this would allow even slight mention of queer or racial identity in significant events in American history to be removed (censored) from public school education.
