STRONGLY OPPOSE

To define homosexuality under "sexually explicit content" creates a hostile and discriminatory environment for children who might identify as LGBTQ+ and any children whose parents, family members or friends identify as such. I also oppose any policies that seek to limit my child's exposure to literature or educational materials that provide a wider lens to the world around them. These materials ENRICH the educational experience. By removing them, Virginia would, in fact, be watering down and degrading the quality of education children receive in this state. Additionally, this places an undue burden upon educators and librarians. These professionals need to focus on educating our children, not focusing on dog whistle political issues that only serve to harm, discriminate and foment hate.
