Bank Street in Richmond is an important thoroughfare and connection for bicycles and pedestrians, 24 hours a day. As a recreational cyclist, bike commuter, and runner, I frequently use Bank Street as I travel from Church Hill/Shockoe to head downtown. When travelling west, the closest alternatives are riding and walking uphill on Main St. (very busy with fast traffic) or using Broad St., neither of which are pleasant and often downright dangerous.
This city has too many divisions as it is; we do not need more streets or areas where connecting from one trail or bike route to the next is more difficult than it has to be. Please ensure that whatever plans are implemented in the future allow for access to this stretch of road, no matter the time of day or night.
