SEL Needs to be taught due to the impact of centuries of overt and covert racism.  All students benefit from this.  SEL helps us to see that all people experience the same feelings and frustrations for a variety of reasons.  It also helps our children to learn healthy ways to deal with and channel these emotions.  This should be mandated as all of our kids need it.  These skills are what enable them to listen to other people and discuss things rather than attempt to force our opinions or viewpoints onto others.
