Please Pass The Poultry Litter Regulation

Jeff,

Thank you for forwarding this to the regulators.

Hi My name is Laurie Kent and I live at 9295 Ivy Tree Lane, Great Falls, VA. I'm writing because I use the Potomac River and Difficult Run to hike and fish.  My husband and I are members of the Potomac Riverkeepers. We are both concerned about the quality of the Chesapeake Bay.  I support the regulation of end users and brokers when they use poultry litter as fertilizer.  After several decades of concentrated litter use in the Shenandoah Valley and Eastern Shore we have already demonstrated convincingly the type of pollution that occurs when litter use is unregulated.  Please help improve the condition of our polluted rivers and also ensure our healthy streams remain pristine by requiring litter application setbacks from sensitive environmental features and streams, soil testing to guide application rates, application close to crop growing season, and better litter covering practices.  Thank you for considering my perspective.
