I absolutely support this initiative. It is my greatest hope that the impact of this proposal will be that the children of the those posters who are expressing outright fear and hatred towards these concepts will be more understanding, more compassionate, and more open-minded than their parents, having not been raised in the fog of condemning those different than you, and fearing that which they don’t understand. For those who claim their religious or parental rights are being taken away or, worse, that this action attempts to discriminate against them, I would like to remind them that lessons can be taught and reiterated at home to the parents’ content, but it is not the job of a public school to curate a worldview for your child that matches your own. More importantly, the separation of church and state falls additionally on to these state institutions, so that those who need those resources to be available to them, such as that of a good and safe education, can do so without fear of persecution and the distractions of bigotry. Your right to your religion does not outweigh a trans students right to live their life according to their choosing.
