Action | Amend Requirements for Carrying Handguns in State Forests |

I support the new regulation, but I am asking for a hearing on allowing for the open carry of handguns State Forests. That would bring State Forests into compliance with a formal opinion (08-043) published in September 2008 by the Virginia Attorney General.
Not everyone has a conceal carry permit (it is not cheap to get a conceal carry permit), so open carry, just like the Founding Fathers used to do, should also be allowed.
Thomas Jefferson said it best, "Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks."
Thomas Jefferson, letter to Peter Carr, August 19, 1785
His advice applies to State Forests as well as public roads, sidewalks, and city parks.
Respectfully submitted,
