Schools - Normal is Gone, Follow Science

Many people who are not school employees are demanding we return to school with little to no precautions. It is not reasonable to require teachers, older staff members, high-risk students with respiratory or autoimmune illnesses, and students living with grandparents or very young siblings to return to buildings.

High numbers of the population still refuse to follow CDC regulations; putting millions back into the possible exposure and contact tracking is irresponsible.

A hybrid model is problematic as will. What should teachers with school-age children do when they are not in school? How will a school with 2500 students get an equitable amount of in-person instructional time as a school with 200? What safety precautions will be taken? Who's going to pay for it? Besides the furniture, I have dug into my pockets to buy everything for my classroom. Will I be required to buy the always out of stock chemicals and sanitizers on top of that?

This should not be a decision based on impatience or those who don't actually work in the field. There are plenty of alternative options until the CDC recommends we can safely return to the buildings.

Too often teachers are not listened to and the students pay the price. Not this time. Do not put my students and my fellow co-workers at risk.

Thank you.
