I am a general dentist in Hillsville, VA. I support the VDA request for an exemption from the proposed emergency regulations for the reasons stated in the letter. My office has been taking the COVID-19 threat very seriously and have been aggressive about learning and implementing CDC/ADA/VDA guidelines in our practice of dentistry. Remaining closed for almost an extra month once we were legally allowed to re-open our practice, we have tried to follow everything to a "T". However, more paperwork in a small practice, on top of all the work that we are having to do just to practice at 50-60% of our past patient load, is something that, in practice, would seem to be very, very burdensome. In all sincerity, I never thought I would say this but I believe there will be a mass exodus from the dental profession. Please allow an exemption from these new regulations. The dental world that I know has done nothing but focus on staff and patient safety in the "new norm" of COVID-19. Thank you for your consideration.
