I strongly oppose the proposed reporting requirements for diagnosed influenza. This is a violation of the right to privacy and I believe would be a HIPPA violation as well. The government has no need to know if someone has the flu. In addition, this would require more staff to monitor something like this, which would either mean higher taxes to pay for it, or some other department would need to decrease in order to provide support. Most importantly, the government has NO NEED OR REASON to know if I’m sick with the flu.
