As a lawful gun owner and frequent user of state forests I support this amendment. My rights and responsibilities to lawfully carry a concealed handgun should not stop because I cross a line on a map.
The right to self defense was considered inalienable by the founding fathers of Virginia, and the state of Virginia should not limit that right without significant forethought and purpose. The law allows lawful citizens to carry a concealed handgun, and the Department of Forestry should abide by the intent and purpose of that law.
Disarming lawful citizens does not make state forests or those that visit or work in them safer.
