Conversion “therapy” has repeatedly been shown to be ineffective and harmful.  As counselors, our code of ethics makes it clear that we must ban this detrimental practice:

Counselors act to avoid harming their clients, trainees, and research participants and to minimize or to remedy unavoidable or unanticipated harm.
