Our 48 year-old son has been on the Developmental Disability waiver wait list for well over 20 years (and still waiting).  We strongly endorse the comments of the Virginia Ability Alliance regarding the  current waiver process.  We have seen some improvement over the years, but not nearly enough to address the needs of many individuals throughout the Commonwealth. We are seriously nearing the point of our son being left with no support system as we age beyond the ability to continue meeting all of his needs!!  We, too, are becoming incapacitated with age-related medical issues that require a lot of our time and energy. Please, please take the comments and recommendations seriously - lives depend upon it!!.
