I oppose the notion to allow non-licensed personnel to place IV catheters. LVT's like myself, are college educated and have passed a national exam which allows us to perform certain duties. Allowing non-licensed staff members to perform these duties diminishes the hard work and recognition licensed technicians have achieved. If anyone can be trained to perform my duties, then my degree and license are pointless. The public is unaware of the difference between licensed technicians and assistants and allowing this notion to pass will only add more confusion to the situation.
