I will try to make this short and to the point. Acupuncturists go through 3-4 years of schooling specifically for acupuncture. What would make you think that physical therapists would be properly trained to perform acupuncture (dry needling) in a weekend?
Physical therapists, as with any professional, should recognize when to refer out to other professionals, including acupuncturists, if it is in the patient's best interest.
I strongly encourage you not to make it legal for physical therapists to perform dry needling. It's simply wrong and is certainly not what's best for the patient.
Thank you and may God bless you with the knowledge and courage to do what is best for the patients.
