As a nurse and future acupuncturist, I do not support dry needling by Physical Therapists (or any other untrained person). I have spent more than 3 years of learning theory, foundations, multiple classes of point location of Chinese Medicine, as well as Western Medical anatomy and physiology classes and hundreds of hours of clinical practice carefully locating specific points on the body, using my knowledge, to become a licensed acupuncturist. It is both unsafe, and an insult to the practice of acupuncture to allow someone who has less than adequate traninig to perform, what is now being considered a 'type of of acupuncture'.
