My licensed physical therapists performed dry needling as part of my recovery from both rotator cuff surgery and a calf injury (that did not require surgery). In both cases, it was a crucial part of my therapy and rehabilitation. It is safe and effective, providing an efficienct and powerful way to address painful tight muscles and trigger points. I have been dry needled in several places in my shoulder, armpit, back, neck and calf, and I never suffered any pain, damage or harm. On the contrary, the dry needling increased my mobility significnatly after each treatment.
This is a great benefit to patients and part of effective physical therapy! Please continue to allow it to be practiced by licensed therapists in Virginia.
