As a Tax paying Virginian who has a vested interest in the State owned and operated properties of the Commonwealth and a retired law officer of the state, I fully support the carry of firearms in our State forests. As I understand it if you currently have a concealed carry permit you can carry concealed in Virginia State Parks, Why shouldn't the same rules apply to State forests? In a State Park you at least have a few law enforcement personel that can assist you in a life threatening situation. In a state forest you are probably in an isolated area and miles and minutes from law enforcement help. And anyone who believes for one minute that criminals don't visit state forests need to be living in gated communities. They are in the forests, more than likely armed in some manner and very opportunistic in perpetrating criminal acts upon the unsuspecting and unprotected. PLEASE SUPPORT THE RIGHTS of LAW ABIDING CITIZENS of the COMMONWEALTH of VIRGINIA. Thank You.
