I have been a recipient of dry needling at the Virginia Therapy & Fitness Center where the treatment has been extremely helpful to my recovery from a back injury. It is very disappointing that Accupuncture Professionals would want to stop this practice. Clearly, their only interest is themselves and not the wellfare of their patients. When I hurt my back, dry needling was about 5-10 minutes of an hour long session to help my muscles relax and regain some movement. Future sessions either didn't require needling or it was only done for a couple of minutes. The main focus after the initial injury has been to strengthen interrior muscles. Accupuncturist do not provide this type of rehabilitation and as a result would not be a good fit for addressing the long term rehabilitation. It is clearly not in the patients best interest if they are required to go to two different professionals to receive the full treatment.
