Law abiding Virginia citizens lawfully carrying weapons are nothing to be afraid of. Virginians already can openly carry (with no license or permit) a handgun into any local park, playground, police station, museum, bank, library, urban area, public college or university, restaurant with an ABC license, etc. With a concealed permit, you can also openly carry a gun into the General Assembly and Capital Hill. Adding state parks to this list would be a total non-event. All it would mean is that those camping in state parks would be safer. For 99.9% of people, this would be a change that wouldn't even be noticed. For the few individuals who may benefit from this change. it may mean the difference between life and death!
