I applaud the Board of Health for amending the medically unnecessary restrictions on women's health centers. These are simply measures trying to restrict women's access to abortion and not about women's health. One of the clinics affected is half a block from home and the pro life zealots are out there all the time. Most of them are old, white men. They care nothing for the children who are alive and live in the neighborhood and have awful pictures on their posters. Throughout the ages women have tried to end unwanted pregnancies. Restricting access to legal abortion will just send it back to the back alleys where women will die. The Board of Health should focus on keeping access open while at the same time working with public health officials to make birth control and reproductive education more available so the need for abortion is less.
