Abortion is an invasive procedure which can easily bring about infection and all sorts of complications. 71% of abortions in the US are done in free standing clinics; only 5% are done in hospitals. Clearly, with such a large number of abortions done in clinics, they must be regulated. Between 2009 and 1973, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention counted 411 deaths as a result of complications from legal abortions. And those are only the deaths they were privy to. One cannot say they are concerned about women's health, and not support regulation.
