I am a hygienist in a Public Practice Office. I can not believe that it is even a thought that a Dental Assistant II would be allowed to scale a patient. Hygienist have gone through a minimum of two years of guided training and education in a college setting.  I think this is not only a disservice to all dental patients,but it is also extremely dangerous.As a hygienist I focus not only on patient safety, but also dental health. I oppose ANY and ALL scaling duties for the newly created Dental Assistant II !!!!!
