Well-intentioned, but poorly executed

As a high school teacher, I am in close contact with families throughout the year who take an active interest in what their students study in the classroom.  It is our job as teachers to introduce students to a wealth of topics that touch on many subjects which might be deemed as "sensitive" to some.

In short, if we remove everything that anyone finds sensitive or inappropriate, or allow parents to veto anything that a teacher wants to introduce into the classroom, the teacher 's creative control and instructional input is considerably compromised.  This sends the message that the teacher is not the instructor, and not professional enough to choose age-appropriate materials.

This bill would create a logistical nightmare and send waves of resentment through a profession that has an attrition rate which is already far too high.  Please don't hinder our children's education by passing this.
