Don't kill Oxford House!

I live in Oxford House - Manassas in Manassas, VA. Oxford Houses are democratically self-governing and self-supporting under the Oxford House system of operations. We have no staff and we are not a business. My time in Oxford House has been a cornerstone of my recovery. I recently celebrated 4 years of sobriety due in no small part to the peer support, accountability, conflict resolution, responsibility, and confidence I have gained through following and fostering the Oxford House model of recovery housing. If the proposed new rules are enacted, 186 Oxford Houses in Virginia will be forced to close. Well over 1,000 people in recovery will suddenly be homeless. I support rules that keep people safe, but rules that require staff or assume every home is a commercial business would keep Oxford Houses from operating in Virginia, despite research showing our model gets the best results. Please change those rules, and please clarify whether house members are considered the operator. Lives are at stake! Thank you.
