I am a resident and incoming President of an Oxford House in Norfolk. Oxford House has helped me build real stability in my recovery. It gives me a safe home, structure, accountability, and people who understand what it takes to stay clean and keep moving forward.

Being part of a self-run house has helped me take responsibility, show up for meetings, pay my share, work with others, and make better decisions. We support one another, but we also hold each other accountable. That peer support has made a real difference in my life.

I support rules that keep recovery homes safe, but requiring paid staff or treating every recovery home like a commercial business could make it impossible for Oxford Houses to operate. Please recognize self-governing Oxford Houses, clarify whether members are considered the operator, and do not require business insurance or State Corporation Commission registration for houses that are unincorporated associations.
