There is no science to prove that a 150year old fishery needs to be kicked out of the Chesapeake Bay. The science we do have is failing infrastructure causing sewage leaks into the James and Potomac river. We have an invasion of Blue cat fish that was introduced unnaturally into our state waters. We are dealing with shifts in climate and water temperatures causing fish migrations to differ from historical trends. This petition is another attack on our small fishing communities in the northern neck that have relied on menhaden since the late 1800s. It has created generational fishermen like myself that can trace back which boats my grandfather and great grandfather worked on.
