I strongly disagree with this petition. I have been a Captain since 1997 and working on the boats since I graduated high school in 1982. There are only 6 boats fishing on the entire East Coast! When I first Captained a boat in 1997 there were 22 boats fishing in Reedville Va. The industry has a bay quota and a coastal quota now in place. We just took a 20 percent reduction in our Coastal quota and to not be able to catch our Bay quota is just unacceptable to me, my crew and my community. I’m all for the science. I can tell you from experience that there is no shortage of menhaden. Last season was a usually bad season which you are going to have those from time to time. There was an unusually large amount of young menhaden in the Bay this past season. That shows that the spawn was very successful and I expect are large turnout in the coming seasons. Thank you
