I'm a pastor in Reston, Virginia, serving a church in Herndon, and I strongly oppose petition 432.

Trans people are our neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family members. They are not a categorical threat to others; if anything, trans people are at greater risk of harassment and violence in vulnerable spaces than cisgender people. 

To the extent that rules around sports needs to be made, they can be made at the local level by people who know the situation best and can respond compassionately to all of the people involved.
