Trans women are women. Trans women are people. All people deserve safety and acceptance in their communities, in their state, in their country; all people deserve an equal chance at happiness and health. This law would undermine those fundamental rights by delegitimizing the very existence of our trans neighbors, and by tacitly authorizing discriminatory and hateful acts against them. If you feel the need to harm your fellow human beings, to use your one precious life to make somebody else’s life harder, you need to take a look deep inside yourself and thoroughly reassess your values, priorities, and motivations. There are so many problems in the world: poverty, violence, illness… I urge you to direct your energy towards one of those, rather than trying to make a problem where there is none. Let your neighbors live in peace.
