I strongly object to the DOE proposals of new regulations to govern gifted education. No successful models or research are supporting these regulations, and they will harm large school districts like Virginia Beach. We have a wonderful gifted education program in our city, although the gifted school buildings are a disgrace. My son is benefitting from excellent teachers and programs. There are no assessment materials, for example, that are free of cultural, racial and linguistic biases that your regulations call for. That type of top-down, politically-correct bureaucratic language is an example of everything wrong in public education today. Do not spread more of it.
