I support optometrists performing laser procedures as they have EXTENSIVE training in this area! Hours of practice, in class education and hands on training—probably more so than some ophthalmologists! Not only this, but they are able to reach more patients due to the modality of their practice! Think of the eyes and the lives that can be improved by continuing to support optometrists in performing laser procedures! This doesn’t take away from ophthalmologists, this ADDS to the care of an ever growing patient population!
