Doctors of optometry are educated, trained, and certified to perform these laser procedures, which were approved by law in Virginia over two years ago.  This will significantly improve patient access to these important procedures, as there are nearly twice as many optometrists as ophthalmologists in Virginia. Currently twelve states allow optometrists to perform these laser procedures already -- and more than 146,000 of these procedures have been performed safely and effectively by optometrists since the 1990s.  

Please do not allow this law to be de-railed by outside groups.
