Common Sense

I am 100% opposed to this bill! It allows for intentional targeting of ethical houndsman. I understand the concept of the bill but does not take into consideration the unique layouts of different types of land. Example from where I currently deer hunt at. 3 clubs have access to let’s say a continuous block of 18,000 acres. There is one particular person who owns less than 3 acres in the middle of it. This person could contact the authorities if a hound enters his land even for a brief moment. This person purchased this land generations after the established land leases and community agreement. Why should this person with 3 acres be able to dictate the fun and fellowship of over 100 ethical hunters? I’m all about property rights but we have to use common sense when it comes of new laws and regulations. In my opinion an easy fix to land owner “trespassing” would be to allow new fox pens to be built on someone’s “own” land. One cannot complain about land owner rights when another land owner does not have the right on his or her own land to construct one of these enclosures. In my eyes it cannot be one sided in this argument. Of course this does not count for deer season and I understand that. I do feel it would dramatically limit the amount of non deer season complaints! I can pay taxes on my own land, I can grow a garden on my land, I can put solar panels on my land, I can do whatever I want for the most part besides build an enclosure. I just don’t see how this is rational in any way! Hound hunting is a strong tradition in the commonwealth and we need to do all we can to ensure it continues for generations to come.
